1974 lives and works in Lima, Peru. Peru is a millenary country and Lima is a desert build up on top of a variety of buried extinguished cultures. Being born in Peru in a postcolonial family from European immigrants I paint since I was very young and conceived it as a natural instinctive activity from my own curiosity of visual gestures, the product of our internal neurology and its relation to language. As a result of globalization I learnt by observing tradition and primitive art forms giving mayor importance to the intuitive process. Utilizing visual archives and Inspired by those I have explored. A statement on cultural diversity reveals the intimate and universal connection between art and emotions. Viewers are submitted to immerse themselves in a world of colors and forms subjected to multiple and diverse influences. The World changes, and interests along with it, adapting to the circumstances in response to our needs and expectations. So what makes a new piece genuinely authentic? Respect for traditional form? It’s power and its impact on viewers? Or simply it’s artist’s intentions? Most works are about time. Life and death, this is all I can think of, something I can be buried with, and it is a prayer. In the appropriation of tradition I search my identity, I feel the necessity to invent a landscape where I can be contained.
